Our Bridge Calendar

About once a month or so, we have a special event awarding double points. The points are either silver or a combination of gold and black. We will have games every day during these events. We will post them to our calendar as soon as we know of them. Though, ACBL may give them fancier names as these events get nearer.

No special games in December. Only the usual super fun club games. Standby for special events coming in January.

You can find our games in two ways

The usual way is to go to Virtual Clubs from the BBO home page. Click on North America and the MODESTO BRIDGE CENTER tournament should be visible. Click on it and an entry screen will appear. Follow the prompts.

The second way works for those who cannot find our game using the pathway above. Click on Competitive from the home page, then click on All Tournaments. A very long list of all pending tournaments will come up. There is a search box in the upper right. Type in MOD and our game will come up. If you don’t see the search box, scroll down until you see MODESTO BRIDGE CENTER. Click on it and the entry will appear.

Usual Game Schedule The open game schedule is Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at noon. Sign up early. You may sign up on the Bridge Base site about 2 hours ahead of time.

Learner’s Duplicate is 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 12:30. We play 12 hands, then have a conference call to discuss them. We are adjusting this as we learn what everyone likes best. Call Libby if you need help.

Partnerships . . . how to get a partner

If you do not have a partner, let the director know. We will do our very best to match you with a compatible person. You should also sign up at BBO partnership desk. You will find this in the same place you find the tournament entry. Click on the tournament, a partnership tab will become visible. If no partner presents himself we will put you in as a substitute if at all possible.

Another way to find a partner is to sign up as a substitute by clicking on the substitute box that comes up when you go to look at virtual club tournaments. We always put our own players in as substitutes if subs are needed.

One more thing to try is signing up at the ACBL partnership desk. The results tend to be slow but it may be possible to build a partnership with a compatible person. Let us know and we will make it possible for both of you to play in our club games.

There is a lesson by Lee Maddocks on Zoom Mondays at 11 AM. Check out his page for more information.
